Layout Spaces
CoViz has the ability to display files in more than one Model or Layout Space in the 3D Viewer. This functionality is automatically invoked when two files with different z units (e.g., feet⁄meters) are added to the 3D Viewer; each file will appear in its own Layout Space, one stacked above the other. The separate spaces will rotate together, and can be treated individually for slicing, filtering and rendering.
The use of multiple Layout Spaces is not limited to files having different z units. Any file added to the 3D Viewer can be moved to its own space by right clicking on the file name in the File Selection panel and selecting Extract To New Space Above⁄Below. This tool can be invaluable for interrogating different models of the same area, or for comparing multiple reservoir simulation grids, for example.
The Space Manager interface is used to set parameters for each Layout Space. The interface can be accessed using the icon along the top of the Viewer window or the Layout Spaces option under the View pull-down.

Each Layout Space and the files added to it are listed in the interface. The tabs at the bottom of the interface (Sizing, Render, and Info) enable manipulation of the Layout Space(s) including:
- adjusting the X, Y and Z minima and maxima
- changing the Z exaggeration
- increasing⁄decreasing the separation of the spaces
- removing axes and their labels from the spaces
In addition, the x, y and z range can be ″locked″ so that when a new file is added to the Layout Space, the size of the space does not change.
The icons on the right side of the interface allow for file manipulation including:
- adding files to the Viewer
- unloaded files from the Viewer
- moving files to the Layout Space above⁄below
- extracting files to a new Layout Space above⁄below
- swapping positions of the Layout Spaces
- duplicating a file in the same Layout Space, or in a new space above⁄below
