Dynamic Graphics' clients participating in our software maintenance program receive EarthVision releases, documentation updates, and year-round technical support for licensed software at no additional charge.

The EarthVision 7.5 release contains some new features, enhancements, and changes. We encourage all users to read through these release notes (always available via the Help -> Release Notes function in the main EarthVision window) as it covers all major changes to EarthVision. The following sections cover the EarthVision 7.5 new features and enhancements:

Next Generation 3D Viewer Preview

A development version of the next generation 3D Viewer, labeled as 3D Viewer+, is available from the Utilities menu. As a development version, this 3D Viewer does not yet have many of the capabilities of the released 3D Viewer. One of its main advantages is, however, allowing the display of multiple faces files, 2D and 3D grid files, and data files together in the same space or stacked in separate spaces. Other important new features include the ability to color or filter by any attribute (previously these features were limited to attributes such as property, zone, or line ID). The new 3D Viewer+ has entirely new look and feel, with such interface components such as toolbar icons (e.g., for changing modes or setting the perspective vs. orthogonal view), thumb wheels for zooming and panning, menu pull downs, floating dialogue boxes (for lighting control and tube display), and tabbed menu windows. Immediate rotation, zooming, and panning using the mouse buttons without use of any additional keys are available when using the “Hand” tool. Slicing, visibility, animation, 3D Cursor, well-tube display, lighting, transparency, and axes range controls are also available, along with limited color control.

3D Viewer

Under Linux•, the hot key to create an image of the model area is now a combination of the Ctrl and PrintScreen keys. The PrintScreen key is used on other systems.

Volumetrics

A sequence file containing property information can now be used as a Yield factor.

New Filtering Control

The underlying module, ev_filter, now supports filtering using the “median”, rather than just the “mean”, which is the default.
