Educational Services Instructors

Robert McFaul, a 17-year veteran with Dynamic Graphics, heads up the on-site Educational Services Training Center in Alameda, CA. Earlier in his career, Robert worked at Sohio Petroleum doing geologic mapping for Prudhoe Bay and then equity volumetrics analysis of Kuparuk Field for British Petroleum. ″I cut my teeth in the geologic mapping world by analyzing the software′s verb streams of the various mapping jobs we did. For some strange reason I really enjoyed that.″

Robert describes his role as Lead EarthVision Instructor: ″I enjoy teaching because it is a wonderful challenge to integrate all the information with my own and the students′ experiences and make a good presentation of the information...to pass on the learning. It′s a lot of fun to be able to share something that is so useful, challenging and fun to learn.″

Robert′s academic interest and ongoing passion is WWII Pacific War Cryptanalysis history and playing acoustic guitar.

Brian Lynch, joined Dynamic Graphics in 1990. Since that time Brian has traveled to the far reaches of the Oil World, teaching in far flung locations, Nigeria, South Africa, Oman, Indonesia, Brunei, Australia, to name but a few. When not traveling the globe Brian is based in Aberdeen, Scotland, providing technical support to the client base there and in continental Europe. EarthVision, itself is such a wonderful complete package that it is ″fun″ to use. Because of it′s robust nature and ease of use the step-by-step approach of the training classes make EarthVision enjoyable to learn and teach. After graduating from the University of Wales with a degree in Mining Geology, Brian worked offshore in the North Sea as a Mud Logger and MWD hand. A return to college provided a masters in Computing. The combination of Geology and Computing works well in providing the users of EarthVison with technical support and training.

Outside work, Brian likes to fish and is passionate about cutting the grass and gravy.

Tracy Mashiotta has recently added Training Instructor to her DGI technical support role; she has begun teaching our newest course, Introduction to CoViz 4D.

About teaching, Tracy says, ″teaching is exciting and a great opportunity to get to know our clients better, which helps us build a stronger relationship with them.″

Prior to coming to DGI, Tracy worked as a researcher at The Ohio State University′s Byrd Polar Research Center and a part-time faculty member in the Life and Earth Sciences Department at Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio. Her experience also includes employment as a Senior Geologist with ExxonMobil and graduate studies in Paleoceanography at UC Santa Barbara.

Tracy′s other interests include jewelry design and fabrication, fossil and mineral collecting, and yoga.

Bill Hanson, our Houston, Texas instructor, has been with Dynamic Graphics for 7 years. When wearing another of his DGI hats, he provides phone and on-site technical support for our user community, so he is very familiar with the every day problems for which EarthVision provides solutions. According to Bill, ″bringing together different disciplines in a class is the best task in teaching our classes. EarthVision has tools that anyone from a technologist to geoscientist to reservoir engineer can easily use. It′s my job to find the common ground and then effectively communicate the material to the class.″

Previously, Bill was a teaching assistant and a Geology graduate student at San Diego State University. His thesis involved studying volcanology and structural geology in Eastern Oregon.

Bill′s other interests include baseball statistics and history, soccer, genealogy, and spending time with his wife and kids.

Jane Wheelwright joined Dynamic Graphics in 1987 after working in the G and G department at Exploration Consultants in Henley. After a stint away in the 1990s she couldn′t resist the lure to return and has been a signed up member since 2001. Her introduction to DGI′s software was ″a revelation″ after her work with existing mapping and modeling packages and she remains a staunch fan and advocate of the software.

Her University training included Geology, Geophysics and Cartography and Jane is a strong believer in an interdisciplinary approach to work in the earth sciences; using all data available enables optimum decision making and better understanding within an organization. Jane is therefore a great CoViz 4D fan but enjoys her teaching of all DGI software, ″being involved at the initial training stage ensures the development of good relationships with users which is backed up with effective technical support.″

Away from the office Jane enjoys traveling, walking and reading.

A variety of other technical personnel assist and teach periodically as well.
