Visualizing planned wellpaths in combination with targets, offsets, positional uncertainty ellipsoids, as well as logs, earth models, and reservoir grids gives well planners and geoscientists a more detailed understanding of the subsurface environment. CoViz 4D can check WITSML servers, automatically accessing drilling data and integrating it visually with the geologic model to show the wellbore and current location of the drill bit. Near real-time visualization of wellbore progress allows reservoir and drilling engineers to proactively identify potential drilling problems, ensure the trajectory remains on-target, and make appropriate corrections, if necessary.

CoViz 4D also provides insight into drill bit performance—rotational speed, vibration, torque, downhole temperature, and mudflow. Monitoring drilling performance in the context of geology helps prevent tool failure and ensure downhole tools operate within design limits.

Production Data Monitoring and Alerts

Evaluating well performance is significantly easier and more insightful when production data is provided in context of actual well location within a reservoir. CoViz 4D provides an immediate understanding of reservoir performance, allowing comparisons of production data among wells. Production data for each well, displayed as color-coded vertical towers, along with the quantitative data, can be viewed and analyzed over time for a portion or an entire field. Tower height changes as production data are updated by the hour, day, week, or time period of your choosing. Visual alerts, based on predetermined threshold values or calculations, appear when thresholds have been reached. CoViz 4D’s ability to depict production data in relation to nearby wells greatly enhances the understanding of overall reservoir performance.

Update Simulation Models

Changing reservoir conditions characterized by geologic models should be reflected in current reservoir simulation models. CoViz 4D allows reservoir engineers to compare reservoir simulation models against changing reservoir conditions using a range of tools, including cross-plots, regression analysis, and multiple statistical methods. Comparing time-series seismic responses against a predicted reservoir simulation model enables reservoir engineers to determine if predictions are consistent with seismic monitor surveys.
